My son, Pierre, enquired one day, why I write so much about the news,
Instead of about my life and my family as I used to.
Of course, I have written masses about them,
And have drifted somewhat more towards world occurrences,
Especially in locations where I traveled or in which I have taught.
He forgets I lived, protesting constantly, during the Vietnam War.
My life is focussed and tuned into world affairs, as well as family.
What I write about world-wise, affects us now and in the future.
Our lives are and will be modified by present-day world events.
Many of my thoughts are concerned with what we do today,
Shaping how we will live in the future.
So, actually, I am indeed writing about us,
Recording my thoughts after 85 years of life.
These thoughts are a written time capsule
To be read later and perhaps to teach others
For a better, more knowledgeable life in that future.
