Haiku I opus 771

27 February 2026 1504 Hours Poetry
Toyon waxing red
Forests' berries food for birds
Leguminous roots.

Tariffs are taxes
Unjustly placed on people
Misunderstood law

Deport criminals
Some nabbed wrongly--profiling
Justice must prevail.

Fridge contains much food
Midnight temptation for some
Will power--rescue.

World heat increasing
Pending crisis for earth's life
Cure required so soon

Pain elicited
Leg impossible to move
Patience and a pill.

Comforting night drink
Milk, bourbon, touch of Anise
Sweet dreams are pending

Friendship is challenged
Some often evolve apart
So many years lost.

Viewing stone fossils
So long a time has stretched out
A mind boggling thought.

Winter Great Horned Owls
Arrived with nuptial calls
Duet back and forth.

To exaggerate
By a leader from his mouth--
But to say a lie!

Rock in the ocean
Beaten by continued surf
How long to erode?

Seed planted in spring
Water and sun mature it
Strong to bear its fruit.

Peacock tail attracts
Peahen approaches to view
Mating soon occurs.

Clouds blot out the sun
Now shade to relieve the heat
Moment of relief.

Grandchild to visit
Playing joyfully near me
Upholds my long life.

Bird walks on lilies
Galinule struts with spread toes
Adapted to life.

Deep heartache from death
Inevitable outcome
Life cycle torments.

Betta surfaces
A fish supplements with air
Rice paddy water.

Teacher in classroom
Loved by her devoted ones
New leaders emerge.
